The wildly popular
Paris nightspot, the Buddha Bar, debuted in the United States
in the form of Little Buddha Café at The Palms Hotel
and Casino. The opulent, Asian-inspired décor was designed
by The Rockwell Group to create a sophisticated, relaxing
place to enjoy Asian/Pacific Rim appetizers, sushi, entrees,
and cocktails.
Little Buddha Café was great work for
Brad Oldham because of the variety and scale of the custom
lights, hardware and architectural elements which have become
part of the remarkable décor. Products provided by
Brad Oldham are noted below, each piece custom-made of from-the-ground-up
elements. For example, the Chinese lantern lights were 100%
custom-fabricated steel shells and wall mounts, with hand-embroidered
canvass hand-stitched to steel frames.
• 28 x 16-inch Chinese lanterns made of canvass, silk
thread and steel that jut 18 inches off the wall
• Twelve 18 x 7-inch cast-stone hand lights that stand
8 inches from the wall
• 152 linear feet of railing cut from 5/8-inch laser
steel in a spiral pattern, topped with wooden checkers and
resin beads
• Four 8-foot-long bronze rope front door pulls for
guests to use to enter the restaurant
• Sixty-seven 9-inch bronze tassel pulls displayed throughout
the restaurant and wine room
• Sculpted column bases that look like large, fluted
vases at the base of the columns, 48 inches in diameter and
48 inches tall
The Little Buddha Café has won “Best
Asian Restaurant” for three years by Top Restaurants
Magazine and is a favorite among Hollywood and Las Vegas
elite for Asian/Pacific Rim and French infusion dishes.
